A tale of two lamposts
Once upon a time there were two lamposts called Lenny and Larry. They were tall and handsome and inseparable.
Lenny was a bundle of laughs and always good for a joke or two. The life and soul of the party. Larry was just the opposite, a bit shy if truth be known, but Lenny's best pal. Larry thought Lenny was great. There was never any chance of Larry having to say anything when Lenny was around. Because Lenny always did the talking!
They both lived at the lighting depot. They looked forward to the day when Lester the lorry driver would find them a home in a street and they could begin to shine brightly showing everyone the way home after a hard day's work.
And that is how they came to be in the street chez Tardis.
Lenny thought it would be great to shine up and down the street outside the huge driveways of two houses. Larry settled down to be himself between the Tardis and the next door property but well within earshot of his friend.
Until that is two grumpy old men started shouting at Lester. "You can't leave him here" they said about Lenny, "We can't drive all our cars off our drive if he stays here". They stamped and they stormed and they even said some words known especially to Teapot and Amy the no longer amiable.
Lenny began to cry. What could he do. He was stuck outside two houses: unwanted and unloved. Just at that moment Larry had a bright idea. He shouted for his friend. No one had ever heard Larry shout before.
"I know" shouted Larry. "I'll move down the street a few metres and you can then follow after me and perhaps find a spot where no one will shout at you any more!"
And do you know children that is what happened. Lester moved Larry a few metres down the road so Lenny could move as well. And the grumpy old men were happy: I think.
So Larry now lives just outside the Tardis. Timelord was a touch troubled about his shining brightly into his bedroom at night at first until he remembered how his sonic screwdriver is just as good as a dimmer switch.
And just to show Larry how special he is I popped outside before posting this blog to give him a friendly hug!
